Del Ennis, born and raised in the Olney section of Philadelphia, hit a pennant winning home run for the
Whiz Kids in 1950. Later in life he owned a bowling alley in the area. He also played short periods for the Cardinals
and Reds. He had 288 lifetime homers and was also the target of the Philly boo-birds, as were Allen and Schmidt in
later years.
Jim Owens Phils, Reds, Houston 1955-1967
A dependable journeyman and famed member of the Phillies "Dalton Gang" of the late 50's and
early 60's. These guys tore up the town!!
Gene Conley Braves, Phils, Red Sox 1952-1963
I loved this guy! If I recall correctly he was about 6'8" tall. He managed to win twenty games total in
his two years (1959-1960) with the Phillies, so he must have known how to pitch too!! He also played pro basketball
with the Boston Celtics. I believe he was the FIRST player to participate in two major league sports at the same time.
George "Sparky" Anderson .218 in 1959 with Phils Hall of Fame Manager Cincinatti Reds
Dallas Green 20-22 record in 175 games Phillies 60-64 & 67 World Series Winning Manager Phillies 1980 Also managed New York Mets
Bobby Del Greco Pirates, Cardinals, Cubs, Yanks Phillies, KC A's 1952-1965
I don't remember a lot about Bobby, except his habit of crashing into outfield walls chasing fly balls. He sure looked good
doing it though!
Dave Philley Cubs, Phillies, Indians Orioles, White Sox, Giants, Tigers, Red Sox 1941-1962
A .270 lifetime batter with 1700 hits, the well travelled Philley won our hearts mostly because of his name!
How could ya not like a guy named Philley!!
